Maybe you should watch or rewatch "Ma nuit chez Maud" by Eric Rohmer and be very careful when Trintignant and his friend talk about Pascal, the french genius.

1. As you may know my good friend Romaric Sobac and I are collaborating on a project called Anus Solaire or just AS.
The output of this project is visible here.

2. We also started a series of audio output called "Les Entretiens de Grenoble", which is just talking and playing records. We meant to talk about philosophy but it seemed problematic.

Teenage Action Records put out a Swamp Leather split tape with Adam Smith from Deadsea.
The Swamp Leather side is the recording of a show we played at Bourbon Street and the Magik Markers also played. It was the 23rd March 2010. It was not a well attended show, which makes the music on this tape even more valuable.

Alright, I'm leaving to France in a month but before I wanted to deliver to the world two excellent new releases, that have nothing to do with each other, musically speaking, only the fact that Columbus-based people are involved. May I dare to say Friends ? (The fact that the covers of these two releases represent women is purely accidental).

ANNA RANGER - UP THROUGH THE YEARS
Anna Ranger is the dance/pop project of Nathan Snell, also famous for his Country band, smartly named Nathan Snell and the Country Sound. He also played keyboard in Twink Bully, one of the best free rock outfit from Columbus. The songs on this tape were written during the last four years I believe (even earlier) when Anna Ranger was only Nathan, later joined by Philip Park (You're So Bossy) on bass and Sam Brown (V-3, New Bomb Turks, You're So Bossy) on drums. The tracks on this tape were crafted by Nathan alone, in his bedroom I believe. Now that Anna Ranger is a trio the sound has evolved, but the root is the same : catchy pop gems. Sadness. Melancholia. Desire. The tape features the particularly brain-sticking (?) tune "Baby Come Back, I Want to Screw". Who doesn't ? C34

DROSOFILE - FRANCE GAL
Will Foster and his band Guinea Worms are, I heard, one of the pillar of the Columbus "rock" scene. Will and I teamed up. The music on this tape is primal, repetitive, somehow loose (due to incapacity and booze). There are a lot of tracks some of them are only a few seconds long. One of the track on the B-Side is 25 min long. It is some really intense music. Totally anti-France as the cover suggests. Everybody should know that France is overrated. We used all the tracks from a Tascam 8-track, mixed down to a tape. Raw shit. C60 Bro.

Two great releases I'm pretty excited about.

MAURER - CS20M c36This is a tape in honor of this great instrument that is the Yamaha CS20M synthesizer. I played it and recorded directly to a tape recorder. There is a just a small delay from the amp I used. Analog gloom.

SPLIT CS 2050s/CHEATER SLICKS C362050s are a short-lived band from Columbus, OH, composed of TD, FP, RM, DF and NM. The music can be described as psychedelic blues. Blues, because the songs are about suffering and longing and psychedelic because they contain extended guitar solos. 2050s played several shows in Columbus and one in Massillon, OH. They played with the best bands in town: Cheater Slicks, Unholy Two, Necropolis, Sword Heaven, Sandwich, Penis Geyser. They notably played for the so-called El Jesus de Magico's last show at Rumba Cafe. This is a recording of this show.

I have so much respect for the Cheater Slicks that I won't try to describe what they do or talk about it to avoid saying stupid things. I hope you know them. They've been around for two decades at least. They recently released some material on Lost Treasures on the Underworld (run by TD), which didn't consist of songs but of what we could call a "noise jam". For the repress of this record, they played at Skylab. The recording of the show is on this tape, which is a true and great honor.

Both tapes are extremely limited (25 copies!!!!) and are $6 ppd.

So I was making this movie called "Visits" with all the good people I know.
An early version of it is going to be shown at the Galerie Limitis, in Paris, the capital of France. I don't know anything about this gallery, one of Romaric's friend is running it.
I will release the final version of the movie on DVDs pretty soon and also a trailer.
Romaric Sobac and all the actors are gratefully acknowledged.

Yesterday, I've been thinking about Paul Hardcastle all day. Kevin introduced me to his music, and I think put one of his track on the mixtape he made for me. Ok so I posted this yesterday (and wrote this today) and after work I went to Volunteers of America on Indianola and Torrence, this record was waiting for me

They don't usually have much shit there, but at least one good item comes up every time I go there. Last time it was Lipps Inc and The Fixxx-Reach the Beach (Side A only is good).
All the Lynch's movies are on VHS.
I found Halloween by Carpenter on VHS a pretty new tape, but I dropped it and broke the piece of plastic that protects the tape. I bought the tape nonetheless.
Twin Peaks's Episodes 1 to 7 are also there on VHS.
I didn't buy them as I'm thinking binarily about buying tapes from a series : either everything or nothing.

1. Yesterday, Ultra Detersivo played at this place called Bat Chapters, behind Skylab. This place rules: second floor, clean, nice hardwood floor, good sound, easy to access, good and young people, pretty grrrls. Three killer acts : Narwhalz of Sound, DJ Dog Dick (Max Eisenberg) and Sewn Leather. Thanks !

2. A cover by Mulan Serrico is featuring on the new "Joyau de la Couronne" series released on Le Vilain Chien.
The May/June (????) release features covers of Burt Bacharach by mostly french people such as : Regis Victor, Le Chevalier de Rinchy, El-g, Gangpol Und Mit etc...
